Visual Artist and Graphic/Book Designer
Based in Lisbon, PT

In Miguel’s work there is a tendency to explore a conceptual process that stems from the existential quest to discover how the world presents itself to us in a very partial way, revealing the things that we don't see or that aren't said or that are hidden. It is in this circulation of these things, images, narratives or facts that he finds fertile environments for creating points of confluence. He searches for facts, phenomena, or narratives that are pertinent to the theme he is working on, interconnecting these 'findings' through temporal, spatial, and thematic analogical discourses. Lately, his been interested in the dialogues of his cultural heritage, archival attitudes, the circulation of images, the simplification and transcoding of symbologies. His multidisciplinary practice mainly involves sculptural objects, photographs, installations, drawings, prints and artist's books.
